Giving Up or Gaining?

Which are YOU focused on?

When it comes to your weight loss journey, the results you obtain as well as the sustainability of that result will be greatly dependent on where your FOCUS settles.

When it comes to your weight loss journey, the results you obtain as well as the sustainability of that result will be greatly dependent on where your FOCUS settles.

Are you locked in, focusing on or worrying about all the things you will have to “GIVE UP” (foods, thinking, behavior, habits, etc.)? In other words, are the challenges you may experience consuming your mind?

Or, have you been able to get yourself more focused on all the things you will GAIN … the things you CAN have, will enjoy or be able to experience? In other words, all the possibilities, positive benefits and things you can be looking forward to as a result of your success and focused lifestyle change.

That small difference of FOCUS makes a mighty BIG difference in the weight loss clients we work with.

Attempting to go into (or proceed through) a weight loss process and ultimately develop a focused lifestyle change WILL require a change of focus. Are you looking enthusiastically forward? Or, are you looking begrudgingly backward?

If all you can do is focus on (or moan and groan about) the fact that some of those foods you ate and things you did for years and years may not be a part of your path moving ahead, then you may be in for a long, bumpy road to frustration-ville!

Famous country singer and song writer, Brad Paisley said this:

“If you make the mistake of looking back too much, you aren't focused enough on the road in front of you”.

Instead of continuing to focus on things that have NOT work for you … the very things which contributed to the current state of affairs (weight wise) that you are attempting to change, work to FOCUS on where you are going … and how life will be better there ... and all you will get to enjoy.

Obviously, people are all over the board as far as things they hope, want and work to GAIN from doing our clinically supervised weight loss program. We hear things such as

  • Self-confidence
  • More energy
  • Better fitting clothes
  • Better sleep
  • Joint pain relief
  • Digestive issue relief
  • Improved relationships
  • Improved breathing or being less winded
  • The ability to be the parent or grandparent I need/want to be
  • The ability to do my job better or even get a different job
  • The ability to do things I’ve been missing with my spouse, family or friends
  • The ability to get off medications for conditions associated with being obese/overweight

The list and variety of things GAINED as people live at a healthier weight goes on and on. And, of course, those type of awesome benefits noticed vary from person to person (based on several clinical and lifestyle factors) but GAINING any one of them is a strong reason to work for change. The simple question is this:

Would the joy, pleasure and reward you will experience from reaching a healthy weight loss goal outweigh the pain, discomfort, limitation and frustration associated with NOT changing?

Yes! It’s uncomfortable to make different, more healthy choices. But you cannot be focused on what you may need to reduce, limit or flat out “give-up”. Don’t see healthy changes as some form of punishment or self-deprivation. The truth is this: many of those small yet repeated slip-ups (of things you refuse to “give up”) for a very temporary sense of feel good or taste good DO need to be bypassed so, in time, you can GAIN all you REALLY want.

You must shift your thinking (FOCUS) to the reality that the cumulative effect of those small choices and actions will provide a long-lasting sense of pleasure, reward and lifestyle you want so much.

Our challenge to you:

Get SO focused on - and so passionate about - all the GOOD that can and WILL come as a result of a focused lifestyle change like we help you develop that it starves those distractions about what you may need to change, move past or “give up”.
